A Life-Changing Journey for Alexda
Meet Alexda, a bright and courageous 7-year-old girl from Esmereldas, Ecuador. Born with severe clubfoot in both feet, Alexda had endured multiple failed casting attempts and surgeries, leaving her family feeling hopeless. Determined to find a solution, Alexda’s immediate family relocated to Guayaquil, sacrificing comfort and familiarity to be closer to our hospital. Their unwavering dedication paid off when Project Perfect World helped her receive corrective surgery on both of her feet in May 2024.
As Alexda underwent life-changing surgery, her extended family traveled 12 hours to support her in-person, demonstrating the power of love and community. Some even slept outside the hospital, refusing to leave Alexda’s side. Thanks to the expertise, compassion, and collaboration of Project Perfect World’s volunteer physicians and nurses, Alexda is now on the path to a pain-free, active childhood. Her story is a testament to the impact of our work and the resilience of the families we serve. With your support, we can continue to transform lives like Alexda’s, one surgery at a time.
A Life-Changing Moment for Snaider
Snaider, a vibrant 14-year-old boy, had his life turned upside down when a slipped capital femoral epiphysis in his right hip robbed him of his joy in sports and threatened to permanently disable his mobility. For a year, he endured increasing pain and stiffness in his hip, losing the ability to run, and diminishing sensation in his right foot. But thanks to Project Perfect World, Snaider’s story took a dramatic turn for the better.
In May 2024, our team of medical experts performed corrective surgery on Snaider’s hip, giving him a new lease on life. The morning after the operation, an emotional Snaider shared a heartwarming moment with his father, “Papa, I can wiggle my toes!” This small but significant movement marked the beginning of Snaider’s journey back to an active, pain-free life. Project Perfect World is dedicated to providing life-changing medical interventions like Snaider’s surgery, giving hope and renewed mobility to those who need it most and would be unable to attain it otherwise.
Snaider’s story is a testament to the impact of Project Perfect World. We believe every child deserves the chance to live a full, active life, free from the constraints of debilitating conditions. With your support, we can continue to provide critical medical care and transform the lives of young people like Snaider. Together, let’s empower them to reach their full potential and never give up on their dreams.
Narcisa
Narcisa, like many young children in Ecuador, suffered from clubfoot — a condition where her feet pointed downward and the soles faced each other. Left unattended, clubfoot leads to an inability to walk or perform simple daily tasks. Narcisa’s life dramatically changed the day the PPW team was able to successfully perform her surgery.
Martina
When Martina was 1 year old, she had surgery and suffered an allergic reaction to the anesthesia. She developed a systemic infection, and her body responded by shutting down circulation to her extremities. Martina’s limbs began to die. Both her legs and most of her fingers had to be amputated. Martina’s parents brought her to our clinic to see if there was anything that could be done to help her. Martina’s skin was very sensitive. Her legs were a mass of scar tissue; she could barely tolerate being touched, let alone the contact of a prosthesis. PPW gave a temporary pair of prostheses to Martina’s parents and told them to help her build up a tolerance for it. 1 year later, at the clinic Martina had built up a tolerance and was wearing the prosthesis. PPW’s team was able to perform surgery on Martina’s legs and fit her with a permanent pair of prosthetics legs.
